DEI at MFS: Inclusion & Impact

MFS Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer, Michelle Thompson-Dolberry offers insights on how she hopes MFS DEI initiatives will continue to enhance the firm's inclusive culture and make this a place where anyone can thrive.

What I'm most excited for in terms of our future and the way that we think about DEI, I think is inclusivity. It is so important to build an environment where people are welcomed. I say that inclusivity is the environment, belonging is the way people feel in that environment. And what I want us to do, every single person at MFS can focus on how do we make this environment more inclusive. How do you help someone feel like they belong? Whether it's saying hi to someone you wouldn't normally say hi to. Checking in on someone that you used to work with a long time ago. These are the things that help people feel like they belong here, and that's something we can all do. And that's what I really love  about this work is that it's not really very hard even though people think that it is, there is something in it for everyone, and I can't have any spectators. This is not something where there's a spectator sport. I want to make sure that everyone comes in and finds their space and plays their authentic role. And so what's really great is that's also a global message. It doesn't have to be this is what's happening in this local region or this specific area. It's how do we all feel like we're MFS together and we all know what that should feel like. And so how do we make sure that others coming into the organization feel the same way as well?
