Diversity and inclusion are important values at MFS. The purpose of the MFS Supplier Diversity Program is to incorporate and promote these values as we engage with our supplier community.
We believe that a diverse supplier base has many benefits, including driving competition, increasing innovation and ultimately contributing to MFS' competitive advantage.
There are many kinds of diversity, and our goal is to keep all the relevant factors in mind as we source potential suppliers. However, to be included in our Supplier Diversity Program, we ask only that a business meet at least one of these criteria related to ownership and operation:
- 51% minority-owned and operated
- 51% woman-owned and operated
- 51% LGBTQ-owned and operated
- 51% owned and operated by a member of another recognized community (e.g., people with disabilities, veterans, service-disabled veterans, indigenous people)
- Small businesses
The business must have its status certified by a recognized certifying organization such as the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC), the National Minority Supplier Diversity Council (NMSDC), DisabilityIn, the Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council (GNEMSDC), the Massachusetts LGBT Chamber of Commerce (MALGBTCC), the City of Boston, or the State of Massachusetts' Supplier Diversity Office.
MFS Corporate Purchasing seeks to identify qualified, certified diverse vendors, and small businesses to participate in the bidding processes by making use of databases provided by diversity councils and asking interested businesses to self-identify by following the registration process outlined below.
